Nothing beats rewatching the Craiglang gang a thousand times for fans, however if you're looking for something fresh to watch but want to keep the same sense of humour and memorable moments and characters, then look no further. Here are some must--watch. shows if you love Still Game.
Chewin’ the Fat
This multicharacter sketch show was created by and stars the same duo: Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill. It also stars many of the same supporting cast. This series is where Jack and Victor originated, as well as other fan favourites Winston and Tam. However, there are many different characters portrayed by Kiernan and Hemphill in other iconic sketches.
Two Doors Down
Very similar trademark Scottish humour and relatability. You can see your own family or friends in the characters in this sitcom. The neighbourhood setting is familiar, along with its tone, plots and family dynamic. Elaine C. Smith as Christine is a laugh-out-loud performance every episode.
Derry Girls
Different country, same heart. There’s a warmth and community spirit in this sitcom, just like Still Game. Naturally there is a strong northern Irish identity and representation of different cultures and ways of life. The 90s backdrop and titular school-age friendgroup are so fleshed out we feel like we know them, similar to the Scottish sitcom set in 2000s Glasgow with its relatable characters and strong setting and identity.
Dinosaur
Featuring Hemphill and Navid actor Sanjeev Kohli, this 2024 comedy drama follows Nina, who is autistic and lives with her sister Evie. However, her relationship with her sister gets tested when Evie suddenly commits to an engagement after only six weeks. A funny and heart-warming series with familiarity as well as something new. Great example of representation.
