UDDINGSTON 'ACCESS FOR ALL' RAILWAY VIDEO!
in August 2024, myself and my friend Nicola were kindly invited to the opening of the access for all accessible railway project at Uddingston train station. People close to the project had previously visited us in school, and we had given our personal thoughts for making the station more accessible. As visually impaired young people, we suggested things like brighter steps and the use of braille. it was amazing and everyone was so nice! it felt great to know that we were helping a wonderful cause.
At the opening day, we were specially mentioned by the head of the project and I really appreciate that! We then did some filming and we can be seen demonstrating using the new facilities at the train station, like the accessible lifts. It was a great experience and i am so grateful to have been involved. I loved being on camera and taking directions! it was lovely to see everyone and meet new people, and to spend it with our families and teachers.
